HID badge readers
« on: August 02, 2015, 04:03:13 pm »
Hi, I have a badge reader that I would like to use in a small project in the future. Right now, my problem is understanding the wiring. I have a picture of it below:

Hoping someone has an idea of what are the uses of of each wire (I know whats i+VDC and GND of course), especially the DATA0/DATA1 and SHLD

I found an installation guide (http://www.hidglobal.com/sites/hidglobal.com/files/resource_files/iclass_c_ins_mu_0.pdf) for an HID reader that may be very similar to the one I have. It contains a little more information about the wiring.

I'm guessing the DATA1 (clock) is used for synchronizing purposes? And DATA0 is used to obtain a list of 'users' that the reader will grant access to?

Any insight/enlightment is much appreciated!

This datasheet of the Wiegand interface might help.
