Help with darlington output transistor
« on: Yesterday at 02:41:17 pm »
I am building this power supply and will be using the option at the bottom right of the diagram as the output stage and want to use a tip122 as the darlington driver which will be driving 6 x Tip35c but i am a little unsure about the resistors. Are r25 / r26 integral in the darlington package or do they need to be added. Emiter resistors r28 to r30 are shown as 0.05r  but r27 value is not shown, would this also be 0.05r

You have darlingtom marked with a rectangle drawn with a dashed line.
R25 is insied, R26 is outside.
If R26 would be integrated in Q17 darlington than package would have to have 4 pins.

but r27 value is not shown, would this also be 0.05r
Certainly not.
Voltage drop at this resistor will be at least 0.7V higher than at those 0.05r. I suppose its value depends on exact transistors used (for example on h21e of Q19..Q21).
It is in base of output transistors and not emitter.

The transistor's datasheet will show any internal resistors and their values.

Thanks for the replies, that's solved a few things but without values for r26 -r27 i am going to be stuck.

Is this a typo, h21e and should it be hfe

I thought of contacting the original poster of the circuit but sadly he died in 2019
