The cloth sticky tape you find say over a few cables on a PCB, what’s the proper name please:

What's "manky" about it? Yellow tape is a rubber or acrylic adhesive with PET backing, and does an excellent job for such purposes.

3M #56 is a typical example, and if you don't like that, maybe a #92 polyimide (Kapton(R)) would be more to your liking?
