Which component is this?
« on: March 21, 2017, 08:04:19 pm »
Hi everyone,

I've been asked about this component, and came to the conclusion that I can not recognize.
As they say, one image speak more than a thousand words:

As far my eyes allow, I think it's marked "1kv" "C24B"

In the PCB, it's called AR1, and it's silk is similar to a capacitor.

Thank you!

Very likely it is a spark gap, probably a 1kv one, or a VDR of 1kV used to clamp overvoltage.

The pcb already have a varistor, so less probable a VDR. But a spark gap, maybe.

The pcb is this one:

This component is located upper-left, under the yellow cap, right to switch.

PCB seems to have a  neon bulb symbol on it ......?
Circle with parallel electrodes.

Google "neon bulb symbol".

Fantastic, I've never seen this symbol. Thank you.

What doens't make sense to me is that it is not a neon bulb... but, it is very interesting to know this symbol.
