Display Malfunction - Pixel column shift
« on: December 06, 2021, 04:15:08 pm »
Hello to everyone,

I am some sort of a beginner in what electronics is concerned, but I try always to search for a solution before asking. Sadly, in this case I have absolutely no idea how to solve this...

I bought this display (https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B099NHLFPH/) last week and I have some sort of a pixel shift problem (see picture attached). The screen shows the image that I'm sending it via HDMI but it is all shifted. It's not a signal problem because the OSD (On Screen Display, the display's integrated menu) also has this problem. The second thing I'm noticing is that the board "thinks" that it's native aspect ratio is 4:3 and not 8:3, because when I set a 4:3 AR resolution (eg. 1024 x 768), the screen is completely filled but if I choose it's supposedly native resolution (1920 x 720), I have black bars at the top/bottom.

I know that returning the board is an option, but because I'm abroad right now (where the display was supposed to be installed), I'd much prefer to find a solution...

Thank you all and have a nice week!

Gabriel

It doesn't quite fit with everything but it looks like it's trying to display an interleaved signal when it's not getting one and swapping certain lines around. There's clearly something wrong with the controller that it's not detecting the correct aspect ratio, and putting the black bars. But if you can force your output to swap from non-interleaved to interleaved it may fix your problem. It may try and get smart and swap around as you do it so you'll probably want to disable any auto resolution adjustments to make it behave.

At least that's the best I can say from the details available (Hope it helps)
