Help with Microchip Datasheet
« on: August 30, 2016, 09:53:34 am »
I am trying to understand the VSS and VDD pins connection in this Microchip datasheet:
http://ww1.microchip.com/downloads/en/DeviceDoc/40001825A.pdf

I am using 44-QFN Package, so i found the pin allocation map for this package on Page 7:

according to this picture, VDD are pins: 7,8,29,28; and VSS are: 6, 30, 31.

I also found this pin allocation table on page 13:

Pins 7 and 29 are not shown in this table! can I trust the allocation map to be true with both pins (7,29) being VDD?

That's a preliminary datasheet... some errors are to be expected. But the fact that two packages with the same number of pins have a mostly the same but slightly different pinout is a big :wtf:

I'd choose a more mature product unless you have a compelling reason to use it. This one is far too new.

I'd trust the pinout diagram over the table.
As mentioned, yeas, a preliminary datasheet, bound to be some copy'n'paste errors. Report it.

trust neither,
email microchip and point out the error - get them to clarify it.

Mistake has been in their datasheet since 2014:

If you have the chip measure the ohms resistance between the Vdd pins and the Vss pins , they should be close to zero ohms, that would give some confidence.
