Hello!
Does anyone have a Craftsman 82357 Digital MultiMeter? If so, would they be kind enough to open it up and tell me the measurement of the R41 resistor? Mine is burnt and I cannot properly read the colour values, but need to replace it. I really do not want to replace the DMM. I've tried looking for the same one for sale, but have had no luck. I really love this DMM.
Thanks!
WENS Instruments made that meter back in '99 (20R series). In your other thread I put a link to a page with the PC software in a zip file. If you can determine which model it is from the top 2 products on this page: http://www.ferner.se/catalogue/subcategories/23/
you may get lucky asking for support on this page: http://www.wens.co.kr/bbs/write.php?bo_table=inquiry_eng
(the PDF manuals on the 1st link would be a good download too)
Barring that, you could post the DMM chipset number here and again, with a little luck, the data-sheet may offer some app-notes
and basic example schematics to help identify.
*edit - specs here: http://www.ts-software-jp.net/products/pdfcatalog/wens_20t.pdf
Thanks Cliff Matthews! I have been to that page in my other post, a few times over the years, and was in touch with the owner of that site before posting my question for help here.
With physical appearances, it's closest to the 20TRMS. Mine is a True RMS Autoranging PC Interface DMM. It's the pictures for the various functions that look different on mine. For example, for the AC / DC selection, mine actually says DC / AC V. Mine also has temperature slots for a K-type thermocouple. I see in the datasheet for the 20TRMS, the T means Temperature and the RMS means True RMS multimeter, so although it looks a little different with the printing on the case, mine would be the 20TRMS. I'll use that to see if I can find more out about it.
If it would help, the chip on it is an FS9711_LP2. I could not find much info on the LP2 version of this chip. It says:
FS9711_LP2
9952

I believe the 9952 is a batch or date code.
I've uploaded some pictures, maybe it would help? I believe the R41 and R40 might have something to do with current measurements, but I am not certain. Is there a chance this Craftsman one could have been available before the Wens one? For some reason, I remember it being purchased before 99. I graduated in 99, so I use that as a reference point, and for some reason, I remember having it for a couple years before graduation. I could be mistaken.
