As the title says, whats the difference between these two capacitors,
https://www.rapidonline.com/kemet-r82dc3100aa50k-100nf-63v-5mm-polyester-box-capacitor-10-3260
https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/KEMET/C0805C104KMREC7210?qs=sGAEpiMZZMs0AnBnWHyRQN7%2FAA2D2lPPiNnp3wDfsnbj3Ps1TMyQ%2FQ%3D%3D
Please don't say "one is SMD, the other is through hole", i know that already
I am more interested in why you would chose one over the other.
Many thanks in advance

X7R ceramic dielectric can have a quite large voltage coefficient of capacitance which limits it to decoupling applications. This will also cause distortion in filters.
Metalized film is self healing while ceramic tends to fail with a short.
