20% Saleae discount
« on: February 17, 2014, 12:55:35 am »
I just ordered a Saleae Logic16 from their website (at full price... :(  ) and they sent me an email with a referral link for a discount coupon code on the Logic or Logic16. If you buy one with the coupon code you get 20% off, and I get a $20 credit for Sparkfun.

I'm not really interested in stuff from Sparkfun but I figured someone on the forum would be happy to use a discount on the Logic or Logic16.

So, now that I have posted my discount link, others are doing the same. All and good, let everyone get their chance to recoup the lack of a discount.

To the folks who used my discount link, thank you!  It's helping to make up for not getting a discount myself.

Hey Guys.  This is Nate from Saleae.  Just reaching out to see if there's something you guys would like better than SparkFun cash as a referral reward?

Mods, sorry if this is against the rules.  Looks like the people on this thread are customers, so I was dropping in.

Wow, Nate, this must have made an impact on sales for you to show up here!

I'd most likely get better use out of a credit from Digi-Key or Fry's or just have you deposit the reward in my Paypal account. Taxwise, it's an iffy situation. Anything more than a few dollars can bring the attention of the IRS then we'd have to fill out the (in)appropriate forms.

Sincerely, thanks for the referral award and especially the discount for those who get it. However, I think a lot of the folks here, myself included, would certainly just prefer cutting the retail price by 20 - 25% and not bother with the rewards scheme. It's the discount that speaks, not the rewards.

Something else to consider is to have you become a sponsor Dave's blog here and cut the EEVBLOG folks a general discount the same way TEquipment does for us.  They get almost all of our USA Rigol business...

But really that's all between you and Dave.

@nate, welcome, a Digi-Key credit would be most useful to a lot of us.

My Logic16 came in the mail yesterday. Now to put it to work on my current project.

Here's my discount link again in case you want to get the 20% discount. That's $60 off on a Logic16.

(and yes, I'm greedy, could use more reward bucks...)

Saleae is supposedly getting ready to anounce a new product; they're probably hoping to clear out old stock. There products are decent, but they spend too much of their time on corporate vacations to Disney Land and going on expos, and not enough time making new analyzers!

you forgot spending so much time on the video blog - so to catch up you have to watch their videos. So much easier to speed read a text than to sit and watch them babble :) I gave up on waiting for their new products (which was supposed to launch ?? September last year?)

Anyway - I do think a company if they have the means should take their staff to ***Land - it actually can help productivity if done right. Done wrong it becomes a Mickey Mouse affair.

They do have a 90 day return policy so you could save on a product you like now and if the new one suits your needs much better you could return it and get the new one (assuming it is out in 90 days)...

They told me:

I have it in the bugbase to allow for more of an o-scope view, and I like the idea of doing this on a trigger.  However for a number or reasons this is fairly complicated, but we'll take a hard look at it!

That was in an email dated Tue, 16 Dec 2008. Fortunately I didn't hold my breath.
