Scaling 3d model when making a component?
« on: May 28, 2013, 04:32:19 pm »
I've been trying to add a 3D model to a connecto . It's a Molex part and the Step file is supplied by them.  All goes well, but the part is actually appearing to scale incorrectly- it's too small. Is there a way in Altium to apply scaling factor when importing a model?

That's odd. Have you tried contacting molex about it? Sure you have the right part?

that's weird.

are you sure you have a correct STEP file (AP214) ?

havent' seen that. scaling can;t be done ( it defeats the purpose of step files... they are supposed to be 1:1 scale)

I wasn't sure if Step model has units or scale.
The file came from http://www.molex.com/elqNow/elqRedir.htm?ref=http://www.molex.com/pdm_docs/stp/54819-0519_stp.zip

The model looks OK to me and a few measurements I made match dimensions in the 2D PDF drawing on the same page.

Never mind. I am totally being stupid. My drawing and the new model were 90 degrees from each other. See picture  and thanks for the help! :palm:
