I'm his biggest fan there is. Liked his anti-pc stand and say-it-as-it-is style.

Would never vote for him.

Don Trump makes his fair share of silly comments.
He is also misquoted as making many more which he didn't.

It seems to be an American game to make up outrageous statements or actions & attribute them to prominent people.
I've never really seen the fun in it,but maybe there is none---only viciousness!

Pollies don't need to have words put in their mouths,as witness Tony Abbott's comment that "He wasn't the Suppository of all wisdom"!

Like agree or not,  the Donald is a lot more entertaining than most of the people on TV!  I think he single handedly is keeping most of the TV networks in business with their non-stop coverage and commentary about him.

The reality is when he becomes the president, those politicians who is bashing him today will line up to kiss his ass.

I heard this saying lately:
Hollywood is the entertainment industry of the beautiful
Politicians are the entertainment industry of the ugly

That is all it is, just entertainment of the masses.
And "The Donald" is really good at it...
There are 3 kinds of people in this world, those who can count and those who can not.

That because he's the village idiot, and the public like his antics and stupidities. For the networks, talking about that is money in the pocket.

That's a tough one, Tom! If it comes down to that, I'd say the US is pretty much fucked for the next 4 years.

While on the other side of the Pacific, the US presidential election campaign has no immediate impact to me, but it has become a story of interest for our media.  So, naturally, we get to see updates on a regular basis.

It seems to me Trump's popularity comes from him shooting from the hip and not dancing around political correctness.  I think a lot of people are disenchanted with the extremes that are imposed under the umbrella of PC and feel a breath of fresh air when he says out loud what they have been thinking and feeling within - probably for years.

He has one big ace in his hand - he can afford to self-fund his campaign, so he doesn't need to worry about the interests of his backers, nor of offending them.

His stance on Muslims (among other things) is, I feel, far too extreme - and implementation of the sorts of measures he is presenting fraught with danger - and I don't believe I'm the only one who thinks so.  It would seem logical to think that this will be putting a somewhat negative pressure on his polling.  I believe that a more positive approach would be to maintain the same energy, focus, commitment and belief in what he is doing - but not throw out ideas that are so extreme and evocative.

The state voting for the candidates will be interesting.......

/\ /\ /\  +1_98%  /\ /\ /\

I generally stay well way from political discussion because I despise them all and don't believe anything they have to say except for one who is a very close friend so I get the inside gossip, not that I want to hear it mind you he just can't help himself, they seem to enjoy blowing their own trumpet and in most cases are out of tune.

Anyway I hear that DT has a few quid and probably doesn't need a presidents wage, has he offered to serve the American people for free or is it compulsory that he be rewarded, it would go a long way for his campaign if he offered up his services at mates rates.

Edit: Changed percentage rate as an exit strategy, just in case.

The way I understand (very little amount of) it, he is not politically correct. We would need some politicians that are not PC. Because problems exist and now we cannot even speak about the issues without everyone raising eyebrows and calling us names.

Far more than that. The outcome of the Clinton email fiasco will tell you, beyond and shadow of doubt, if the US is a 3rd world country.

Far more than that. The outcome of the Clinton email fiasco will tell you, beyond and shadow of doubt, if the US is a 3rd world country.

That fiasco was a shame on her, but far from placing the US as a 3rd world country. Our president, Dilma Roussef, is far dumber than H. Clinton, and a day doesn't go by when Dilma says something extremely stupid. She once mentioned in the UN that scientists needed to invent a mean to stock wind. She's possibly one of the dumbest persons alive, and she makes Clinton look like a Nobel Prize Nominee (and makes Trump look like a 2x Nobel winner).

One thing that is admirable in the US is that the people's opinion is somehow regarded, is taken into consideration. I am certain that Clinton will have someone coach her on using a proper e-mail client, and not to say other bullshit like that.

One strong image that Clinton will explore to the fullest is her seating in the same situation room as Pres. Obama during the raid to Osama Bin Laden's bunker, when he was - supposedly - killed.

Other that than, and I may sound sexist but I am far from it, many countries run be female heads-of-states, have been a total catastrophe:
- Dilma Roussef destroyed 16 years of economical stability and growth in Brazil
- Cristina Kirchner did the same to Argentina
- The whole refugee fiasco in Germany, allowed to happen by Angela Merkel
- Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, from the Phillipines, who ended up being arrested for fraud
- Michelle Bachelet, from Chile, had a great first term, but her 2nd one, ongoing, is a total disaster, with some of her family members deeply involved in corruption tied the government
- etc

Seems the PC crowd have had their sensibilities offended - by someone who has not bowed to the extreme expectations that have crept into any society that seeks fairness for all.  The whole situation has declined into reverse discrimination on a number of fronts.  Add to that a political agenda and the media template of sensationalism and we get a nicely produced rant of erroneous content.

I love the last line - by the man himself.

Don't forget our encounter with Julia.

Stabbed Rudd in the back for the job - then Rudd returned the favour to get his old job back.
That was just bizarre.

Actually Imelda Marcos didn't run the Phillipines, but her husband Ferdinand Marcos did, and was a dictator for 20 years.

Funny thing is that after Marcos left office, the Phillipines was run by a very competent female head-of-state: Corazon Aquino. I intentionally left out Corazon Aquino from my list because she's one of the rare exceptions of a good female president.

I'm sure there are many examples of female leaders that have done an excellent job - and all respect to them.

My concern is when a female is given such a position because of her gender.  I think this is absolutely wrong.  I believe a position should be filled by whomever is capable, based on their merits - but should not be disadvantaged in the selection process simply because of their gender.
