4mm blanking plugs/caps?
« on: May 25, 2017, 05:19:14 pm »
does anybody sell caps to put in multimeter sockets to keep dust / rain etc out of them??
i see such things to protect the actual leads often supplied with replacement probe sets.
but never seen anything for the actual meter.

i need to plug the useless 10a current socket on a few.  :P

If you can't get the real deal ones, I use push in rubber or plastic tube scraps cut to size and or electrical tape to keep out nasties,
It also makes me think about proper settings etc before I take current measurements (and saves a fortune on Fluke fuses too)    ;D

But you need to fit it at your meter  :)

I stopped using these because they would fall out of my 87V every once in a while, I wish they made them a little longer.

Does it void the calibration depending on how far these go in?   ;D

Essentra Components lists plastic caps but slogging through their web pages is a major PITA and trying to figure out the quantities just adds to the frustration.  Then they may not ship you what you ordered.
In the US, McMaster.com is the place to find these sort of things.
